Dashboards in Hearth

Overview

The Dashboards page shows live views of your security information. Two kinds of dashboard are available:

• Integration posture dashboards, which are ready-made views for supported integrations, such as Microsoft 365 and Amazon Web Services (AWS).
• Saved dashboards, which are the dashboards that you build, pin, and refresh yourself.

Each widget re-runs its underlying query, so a dashboard stays current. A dashboard does not freeze at the moment that you created it. All queries are read-only, and Hearth applies them only to your workspace.

Note: Dashboard generation and dashboard refreshes spend your monthly Hearth credits. Frequent automatic refreshes and live refreshes spend more credits.

Prerequisites

Before you make or regenerate a dashboard, verify that you have the following:

• available monthly credits in your workspace
• the Analyst role or higher, which Hearth requires to make or regenerate a dashboard
  Note: All roles can view and refresh a dashboard.

How it works

A dashboard comes to exist in one of three ways:

• An integration posture dashboard appears on its own. After you connect a supported integration, Hearth builds the dashboard from that integration's information. You can then refresh it or fine-tune it.
• You make a dashboard from a description. Describe what you want in plain language, such as "Microsoft 365 risky sign-ins and OAuth grants from the last 7 days." Hestia builds the widgets and pins the result as a new dashboard.
• You pin a dashboard that Hestia already made. Any artifact of the dashboard kind qualifies, such as one that a run or a chat produced.

After you save a dashboard, you can organize it and keep it current. Group saved dashboards into folders, add a short tag such as daily, and drag them to reorder the list. You can also set a daily or weekly refresh cadence.

Making a dashboard

To make a new dashboard from a description:

1. In the left navigation, click Dashboards.
2. Click + Make a dashboard.
3. In the What should it show? box, type a description of the information that you want to include.
4. In the Name box, type a name that helps you identify the dashboard.
5. Click Create.
   

Hestia builds the widgets and pins the result as a new dashboard. This action spends credits.

Pinning a dashboard that Hestia made

To pin an existing dashboard artifact to the Dashboards page, do the following:

1. From Artifacts or from a chat, open a dashboard artifact.
2. In the side panel, click Save to Dashboards.
3. Type a name for the dashboard, and then save it.

The dashboard appears in the Dashboards list as a live, refreshable dashboard.

Note: “Save to Dashboards” appears only for an artifact of the dashboard kind.

Creating a dashboard from a prompt

You can also create a dashboard directly from a request. Describe the dashboard you want, and Hearth builds it; save it to keep it.

Adjusting a dashboard

To change what a saved dashboard shows:

1. On the saved dashboard, type a change into the prompt box, and then submit it. Hestia regenerates the dashboard.
2. (Optional) To remove a widget, click the remove control on that widget.
3. (Optional) To see the records behind a number, click the drill control on that widget.

Keeping a dashboard updated

On dashboards that you create, you have the ability to refresh the data manually or automatically as follows:

• Refresh: Manually refresh a saved dashboard on demand from its menu.
• Auto-refresh: Set a saved dashboard to refresh on a schedule, either daily or weekly, so it is current when you open it.
• Live view: A live dashboard updates on its own every 60 seconds while open.

Organizing saved dashboards

To organize the list to suit how you work, you can do the following:

• rename a saved dashboard
• add a short tag, such as daily
• move a dashboard into a folder
• drag a dashboard to reorder the list
• remove a dashboard from the list

Note: When you remove a saved dashboard, Hearth unpins it from the list but keeps the underlying artifact.
